Thoughts on a long putter(not belly)

Im thinking about experimenting with a long putter, i love my scotty and sem to putt pretty well with it, but im looking for a change. I like the idea of a long putter because i have a pengulum swing(i think thats how you spell it). Long puters are also supposed to help promote this kind of swing.

When i go to my local golfers warehouse, i try out the odyssey long putters, one that looks like a sabertooth, but is more square...not sure on the number. When i practice with it, i seem to struggle and oush the putts a bit. This could be because im using a different putter, or because im not using my normal left hand low grip.

I was wondering...who on this forum uses a long putter? do you like it? was it hard to adjust to at first?
Thanks in advance.

Thoughts on a long putter(not belly)

A few years ago I had a hard time hitting long putts on-line with my short putter and went to a 49" PING. I won a good deal of cash with it. Standing up taller helped me see the line better and if I just rocked my shoulders it was like sweeping the ball to the hole.

After 2-3 with years with it, I played a couple of tourneys on courses with really fast greens and the 49" PING was too heavy and I could not control the speed well enough with it. I used the short putter again and found that the pendulum motion had carried over from the long one to the short one. I've not gone back to the long one, but I keep it for when I am 70 years old and don't care to stoop over so much. SubPar

Tim Clark uses the long putter. He has for over 11 years. He is a great putter with a great stroke. You should always try the long putter and keep your options open.

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

i am thinking about using one, i know some one who has one a loves it. i was curious though, because i seem to struggle putting with it in the store, but do you think that i will eventually get used to it???

did anyone else struggle with the long putter, but then came accustom to it over time??

You will get used to it. Everyone does. I experimented with the belly putter at one point.
