hey guys, im wondering if i will lose any distance if i switch irons to the mp 33 irons. The sticks im using now have strong lofts which would make this answer easy, but the mp 33 are also suppose to fly higher, it this due to the weak loft, or the head design?? also does the 1* loft weakness compared to most irons affect the distance? if so i might make them 2* stronger.

I'm not real sure of the lofts of the MP33s but I do know the loft of the R7 6 iron for example is 28*. I would be willing to bet that is the same loft of the 5 iron on the MP33s within 1*. I can't Imagine a 27/28* MP33 flying higher than the same loft in the cavity back R7. But the MP33s would have a higher center of gravity. Comparing the same loft clubs between the 2 models would be comparing apples to oranges.

I've heard somewhere, maybe Tom Wishon, that loft accounts for 80% of distance and shaft length for 20%. Take that for what it's worth. IMHO the MP33s will fly shorter distance given the number stamped on the sole. But that number is just that....a number. I wouldn't let that deter you from playing the clubs you like.

The only reason that you would loose distance would be on miss hits. The lofts are different on r7s and mizzys for a reason which is that a cavity back iron will fly way higher than a players iron hence the 1* lower loft in the r7s.

I don't think you will lose distance with the mp33s. I hit the 8 iron 150 yards.
the lofts are available for each of the irons.
