After a run on the LaunchMonitor I've been told that I should go with a stiff shaft with a high kick point "ALDILA GOLF NV 65" to be exact. ( Only picked this club as selection was limited ) Does anyone know of or recomend other high kick point shafts from other manufacturers as I want to experiment further?

Hey - where did you go to with a Launch Monitor? Not places here! I've hit that shaft before, was very nice - I liked the high kickpoint. Don't know much else about shafts though!

I've tried four shafts in the last year and like the Aldila NV proto at 60 grams and X flex. It has a very high kick point, perhaps the highest I've ever used and it is mounted in an 8.5 driver (normally I perfer a 7.5, but have been trying 8.5 lately.) Getting the ball up is not an issue with my swing, and this shaft helps the top of the flight flatten out a little more so there is great penetration. I also like the new VooDoo but for some reason the Aldila fits me better.

Choosing a shaft is always an individual matter, but the launch monitor is not a bad place to get started. Then play whatever you get for a while and decide if you need to tweak with a different shaft or head.

    • Day 19 - 2026-01-08 10 minutes of net work. Feeling very good about changes but need to film soon. Next few days will be indoor mirror work as we head into the mountains.
    • Day 6: 2026.01.09 Some swing work in the mirror. Need to work on home setup to be able to get more out of evenings where I can't make it to the range.
    • I would like to amend my original comment on the new Maxfli irons. Yes, $800 for forged irons is a pretty good price and they do feel good BUT...I have since found out that $800 is only for off the shelf, standard issue clubs with standard lengths, lofts, lies and shafts. Any change made from stock results in huge up-charges so that the final price ends up pretty much the same as similar forged irons from any of the major manufacturers.
    • These were almost all included on the list of Clarifications or revised Model Local Rules released just a few days ago.  I'm pretty sure the first 3 are brand new MLRs (Moved/Wrong Place, Embedded Ball in someone else's pitch mark, Internal OB applies only to tee shot) that the PGA Tour is choosing to use.  The 16.1 Rule (relief near a Putting Green) was revised allowed a Committee to give relief for more than just Immoveable Obstructions, microphone holes would be classed as GUR (a hole made by the maintenance staff).  The replacement club rule was available before, the E-3 (Lift Clean and Place distance) could have been defined as "one scorecard" before, they're just a change in how the PGA choices. Here are the January 1 Clarifications and revised MLRs https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/clarifications-of-the-rules-of-golf.html#cp
