Does anyone know a site that explains the different types of grasses for golf courses? Like say, for instance, the golf course has Bermuda grass fairways. Does that mean they're faster, slower, thicker, etc. than different types?

If anyone knows anything about the different kinds of grasses on fairways, roughs, and greens, feel free to contribute!

I think in order to lower my handicap, I must be more knowledgeable about the different kinds of playing surfaces.

Thanks guys!

bermuda fairways will play pretty similar to bentgrass...

bermuda rough tends to be quite different however.... it is thicker and will grab a club a little differently, and depending... the ball may actually sit up more often, but if it does get down in it it can be more difficult to dig out than in a normal grass

bermuda greens... you must read the grain... it will cause greater or less break and substantial differences in speed.

this is just my personal experience of having played a lot in NC and MI and a few rounds in various other "southern" areas that have bermuda greens.
