The newest edition of Golf Digest talks about our P.E.'s new profession! Barack Obama started taking up golf about a year ago, and he currently plays to a handicap of +24. Joe Biden plays to a +8.2 handicap.

Couldn't find the part about Biden online, but it is in the actual magazine.
EDIT: About three years ago, Biden was a +7.4 handicap. I guess he's been struggling: http://www.golfdigest.com/rankings/2...ankings_gd2007

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Obama didn't take up the game a year ago, it was more like over 10 yrs ago. Michelle Obama wanted him to take the game up as an alternative to his favorite sport, basketball. It didn't really work though, as he still plays basketball as well as playing golf.

Just curious why when Geroge Bush plays golf he's being a snobby, rich old white guy who hates all minorities, but when Obama does it's really cool?

I'm thinking for next election, instead of boring debates where no one ever says anything true, they should play golf instead. To make it interesting, let them play by normal political rules where honesty and fairness are not an issue and etiquette doesn't exist.

Because Obama is the messiah!

What a fluff piece. The guy for the most part sucks at golf... what is the big deal?

I hate GWB but I've never thought of him as snobby or bigoted. He probably has had more diversity in his cabinet than Clinton did, maybe more than Obama will. There was the time where he gave a press conference from the tee box ("now watch this drive") that seemed a little callous, and the golf abstinence to honor the troops seemed silly to me.

gwb playing golf never struck me as him being snobby. in fact, it was about the only thing i liked about him. but agreed with the previous poster - the whole "i had to give up golf" because of the war was pretty silly.

gw bush doesn't even like to play sports that much so it was no big deal to give up golf or even play that much as did his dad or previous presidents. in high school and later on in college at yale, he was a cheerleader and so he is much happier cheering for others and not personally playing sports.

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
    • That truly had me laughing. Thanks If anyone is interested Sun Day Red is live. I clicked on the hats, seem they are sold out. Shorts 130 bucks, shirts 120, everything seems to be sold out already, at least from what I clicked on. 130 for shorts, I'll pass.
