Below is a listing of my current setup and the distances i would say the ball normally goes with the clubs. Beside the distance is how i normally hit the current club i have.

3 wood 14* graphite shaft (220-230, teed up relatively high for a wood, wood has a deep face and hard to hit off low tee or fairway)

5 wood 19* graphite shaft (200-215, teed up higher than i think others tee up a 5, can hit it off fairway but it isn't easy because it also has deep face. Used most often for 217 yard par 3 at course i regularly play if tee's are upward in the box i am deep though.

23* hybrid steel shaft (180-190, teed up (barley) or off ground, equal distances both ways.)

Now a question about lofts: will 2 degrees of loft on a wood make me come up short? This would be from a 19* 5 wood to 21* 7 wood.

Also, will losing 1* on the hybrid change the distance a significant amount?

Is 18, 21, and 24* too close together?

Do these distances for new lofts sound right knowing my priror distances and lofts?
The clubs i am looking at are in the parenthesis

18* 5 wood graphite shaft(cobra speed ld f) - 220 off ground

21* 7 wood graphite shaft (cobra speed ld f)- 200-215 off tee/ground

24* hybrid 180 graphite shaft(nickent 3dxc ironwood)- 190 tee/ground.

Also feel free to suggest other lofts or clubs to achieve what i want.

You're roughly 10 yards longer than me. I am currently playing a 18.5* 5w, 21* 3i hybrid, and 24* 4i hybrid. Those gaps work our pretty well for me.

I build my own clubs and had an interesting experience here. My 5w has a 42" graphite shaft, and I first tried to shaft my 3i and 4i hybrid like long irons (steel shafts - 3i at 39"). I was just not getting the distance that I wanted or needed - mostly a 3i problem. I reshafted the 3i with a 40.5" graphite shaft and now it works perfectly for me. 3 degrees between lofts is pretty common with the longer clubs.

Off the deck my 5w is a 195 carry club, 3i hybrid 185, and 4i 175. My 4i hybrid was reshafted with a graphite shaft and +0.5 inches over a "standard steel 4i" (39" vs. 38.5").

So i am taking it that you think my distances with the new lofts should work out, i will demo them at an indoor golf place nearby to make sure. I will take my old clubs and compare.
