I was at golfersware house to today and the guy who regrips clubs and puts on new shafts said that PING is making a wedge that will be legal under the new USGA groove rule. He also said it was going to revolutionize the game. Anyone know anything about this new wedge.

I know that Ping has lagged behind the wedge groove revolution for a few years. Really, I can't understand why they won't get out of the gate. I haven't heard of Ping doing anything note worthy with their wedges in 5 or more years. I really like Ping. I just don't get it.

Custom grinded wedges aren't "note worthy"???: B Grind, H grind, Bounce grind, L grind , T grind, TS grind or radius grinded wedges are available to fit a player's specific need for any given playing condition. Personally, I like the five-year old Tour wedges better than the new or old Vokeys.

driver: FT-i tlcg 9.5˚ (Matrix Ozik XCONN Stiff)
4 wood: G10 (ProLaunch Red FW stiff)
3 -PW: :Titleist: 695 mb (Rifle flighted 6.0)
wedges:, 52˚, 56˚, 60˚
putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5

Point taken.

Ping was always a leader in custom fitting from the jump. I've always liked their clubs, and for several reasons I like the fact that they are an American company. I do however think that if you ask the general golfing population (not the better players or even the sandtrap members) but most golfers on the course what they want in a wedge, the first words out would be "gimmee grooves". There are still a lot of golfers that don't even understand how important bounce is in a wedge setup. Those same golfers are totally unaware of the versatility that different grinds can add to a wedge. I'm not obsessed with grooves. I'm about to start my 3rd season with the same Vokeys. But I do think that Ping will pull more customers with their new groove design. I'm glad they are pushing the limits. Unless I'm mistaken, Ping was one of the first companies to bring the groove issue to the forefront with one of the Eye2 series.
