Can I get some input on the thoughts of the Ping putters - the blades specifically aka like the Anser blades or the Karsten (whats the difference between the two anyways).

Right now Im using an Oddessy 2 Ball Putter - but a buddy of mine had a Ping putter blade and it felt really sweet. Felt like I had more control - so just wanted some inputs. I saw the Karsten was like 90 bucks and the i-series Ansers were like 120 bucks. But have read reviews how some say that the Karsten is good?

Inputs and thoughts?

I play the Ping G5i, soft feel, excellent setup, my favorite putter ever. I would definetly recommend giving it a try.

The PING Anser is "the" putter stlye that so many manf. have copied. There is a reason....it is a super design. I think the Karsten series are the non-inserted style (my favorite) and the I-series are inserted. I believe the new IWI series offer a firmer insert and the ability for the owner to easily change out weights with a very wide range of weights.

If my stoke is righteous and my thoughts pure then I putt best with my blade. If, however, things aren't just so and my stroke is not grooved then I do better to stick with a mallet. I like having a couple of different styles to switch in / out of the bag. It keeps it fresh and I feel I focus on putts more as a result. Good luck. I'd hang on to the mallet even if you decide to pick up a blade....you never know when it may be handy. Those 2-balls are great.

My first putter 25 years ago (or so) was a Ping Anser blade and I hated it! For the most part I do not like blades because they are harder to align. Of course, it seems players either love blade/hate mallet or vice versa. Most will say they are easier to control distance with, but I think blades are more difficult to get good direction on due to alignment being limited to either a dot on top or a line on the top or flange. But with putters, it's all about what you like the looks of and have the most confidence in. My Dad still sometimes plays with an old Ping 1 (the one that makes the trademark *ping* noise when you strike the ball.

That is wild.....not ten minutes ago I was getting another cup of java and the tv was tuned into Golf Channel. They had a brief blurb about the original PING and way that Mr. Solhiem came up with the name (from the sound).
