One of the best golfers that I play with has been aggravated (his own admission) with his drives.

He's been gaming a Callaway FT5 neutral 9.5 degree. The guy hits more fairways than anyone I've ever played with. He's usually about 250 yards or better off the tee. Ballflight is dead straight, comes to a high apex and then tails off to the right with a small cut. I'd estimate his carry to be 95% of overall distance.

He recently switched to another Callaway FT5 9.5 degree....however this one is the draw bias. He said he was loving it.

We played a couple rounds together over the last week and I can see a huge difference.

His ballflight remains dead straight, coming to a high apex but now tails off to the left and gets a bit more ground action. He's now carrying the ball over 250 yards.

It was funny watching him carry the fairway bunkers that he used to play away from.

I couldn't believe the difference. His tempo is the same....just now mated up to a better fit for him.

It's scary.....single digit handicap already....gonna drop more.

Your buddy is the guy Callaway made the draw bias for. A well grooved consistent swing...a simple change in bias adds the draw and therefore the few extra yards. Pretty cool isnt it. A guy that has a swing thats different every time wont benefit from a bias...or if the club head was 1000cc for that matter

My buddy, who has had a bad slice since he started playing 5 years ago or so, recently bought the R7 Draw irons and it has made a huge difference for him. He had been playing the Nike Slingshot irons since the beginning, and these draw irons have really helped him. He now wants to play more and enjoys it more when he's out there.

While better players are usually somewhat critical of these type of clubs, for the average Joe (maybe Joe the Plumber, even) they can be helpful to improving their game and making it more fun.
