Why is golf appealing to YOU?

I like that it's a sport in which your success or lack thereof is completely dependent upon how much effort you put into it. I used to play baseball, and it always irked me that no matter how hard I tried, if the other members of the team were goofing off or didn't care that day, we lost anyway. I'm an extremely competitive person, and I'm really only having fun if I'm winning. Which explains why I have so little fun playing golf, lol.

It's the best way I know of to &%#$& up a beautiful day with nature. But seriously, probably the only game out there you can never completely master. And if you cheat, the only person you cheat is yourself.

I just like the calm serene scene, getting away, whether I do great or poor. It's an appreciation.

I also like watching the pro's, but agree thats not while I like to play my self. I like to play because the game of golf is directly related to your self. It is not a team sport. You don't have to rely on others to have a good game. You can go out and play with others, but how your game went is directly affected how you played that day. I also like it because you dont have to go out and spend a fortune to have fun. You can got pick up a cheap set of clubs, and go out and wack away.

For me it's a way that I can strengthen my relationship with my FIL and BIL. Also a way for me to network at work since most of my co-workers play together and I always get invited to go play with them but have always said no but I'll surprise them when the golfing season comes (Wishful thinking).

Also my dad left us when I was young and did not experienced bonding with him and it was hard growing up and seeing your friends with their fathers. So I promise myself that my daughter will not experience what I experienced growing up. I will try my best to create great memories for my daughter to cherish and playing golf would be at least one of the many ways in making that happen.

2) gentleman sport, golfers call strokes on themselves and disqualify themselves from golf tournaments.
3) competition, playing match play with my buddy, James
4) You can play almost forever, I played with a 94 year old man
5) Richman's sport, it has some prestige
6) walk about 5 miles and being outdoors with manicured fairways and greens
