Mine are starting to go, been using them for about 75 rounds. The laces are gone, cleat screws on the bottom of the shoe are shot, and the leather is just plain worn.

I wanted to see if anyone has a pair of shoes that they love? I was looking at the foot joy lo-pro, callaway chev, and a few other "athletic type" cleats. Any thoughts or experiences?

In my opinion, you'll find no shoes more comfortable than ECCO. They are normally a bit expensive, but I recently bought a pair at a local Golf Galaxy for only $99 (that model is normally $179). They have some models of 'athletic' looking shoes that are very nice looking as well. For comfort, I think Footjoy is the second best.

75 rounds is not bad for your shoes. One thing that might help is to have 2 pair and switch them from round to round, especially if you often play in wet conditions or really hot conditions (due to sweat). Ideally shoes need to dry out completely before being worn again to extend their life.

I vote for Ecco. I bought a pair last year and have no regretted it one bit. I was not fortunate to get them at a discount (I paid $170), but they are the most comfortable shoes that I own. I could wear them all day long. Worth every penny.

I own a pair of Toschi's. Expensive but stylish and more importantly, they provide excellent comfort. I find walking in cleats fatiguing so these suit me well.

FootJoy's are insanely comfortable, but if you have wide feet, especially around the toes, they're pretty hard to wear. Nike's are the only ones that fit me, and the TW Tour's, the models from a year or 2 ago are very comfortable, and seem to balance athletic and classic golf look. Plus they go around $80

I absolutely love my Oakley laceless Overdrive shoes. Extremely comfortable with the ease of slip on. Never have to worry about lace wear out again. See review

I have wide feet... and I wear FJ's in 13 wide... right now I have some contours and some older dryjoys... both are fantastic, and I usually walk. The contours are some of the best feeling golf shoes I have ever owned.

I am the Imelda Marcos of Golf Shoes and have tried every brand several times. As mentioned by others, ECCO shoes are very comfortable. However, they are very expensive. Foot Joy Dry Joys are the best combination of comfort, water resitance and price. You can usually find last years model of Dry-Joys pretty cheap. Nike sneaker style golf shoes are okay, but do not last. Nike formal style shoes are uncomfortable compared to ECCO and Dry Joys. Dfeinitely stay away from the cheaper Nike models. I've tried several high end Addiidas models. None have compared to ECCO and Dry Joys for comfort, water resistance or quality of the product (i.e. they fell apart much faster)

This thread makes me wonder; how long you guys use your golf shoes? Number of rounds? Years of use? Beat them into the ground? New pair every year? Just curious.

I always have 2 pair in use - one brown/white saddle and one pair black/white saddle. I switch off based on what I am wearing so I match (yea, I know...) I play around 50 rounds of eighteen, plus about 10-15 nine hole rounds a year so each pair sees about 30 rounds a year in all kinds of weather (and I try to never wear the same pair back to back rounds, especially back to back days). Based on this my golf shoes usually last about 2-3 years. The black and white adidas shoes I have are more than three years old and are holding up OK. I usally retire my shoes when they start to leak or they break down in some other way (I had a pair of FootJoy's a couple years ago that the sole split in about 2 years and a pair of adidas that the leather at top of toe box split open after about 2). That 2-3 year range always seems to be about right.

I usually have a spare pair or 2 in the house so if a pair needs replaced, I'm ready. When I find a really good deal on shoes I just buy a pair. That way when pair wears out I don't go shopping for new and be stuck paying higher prices. Late fall/early sping is a great time to buy new shoes since companies and retailers are trying to sell of previous seasons models cheap.

I normally have at least 3 pair in normal rotation. One solid black, one tan or brown, and one white with brown saddle. I also have 3 other pairs I use semi-regularly. I play a lot. Also, I clean and polish them between uses. My current two favorites for comfort are Callaway Toscana's..I have the black and the tan ones. They are the most comfortable shoes I have worn and I walk almost every round.

this is pretty much me to a "T" ... only difference is I have one pair that is white w/ black saddle and one pair of all brown shoes... and replace those colors with the same. Oh, and I play about 60-70 18 hole rounds and maybe 5 nine holers.

Foot Joy Contours. Bought them new because I showed up at a tournament which I planned to spectate all day in running shoes, but started raining hard when I got there (rained all day). Instantly comfortable, very waterproof and wore them in wet conditions two straight days and all spring, summer (at least 27 holes a week - in rotation with an older pair the remainder of rounds played) and fall. Looking to get another pair this year and rotate with last year's Contours.

Another vote for Ecco. I have 2 pair in rotation (both Hydromax) and the are comfortable right out of the box. Worth the price IMO.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
