Diamana Question

Hi. I will be getting the new 909 series from Titleist and had some questions regarding LEGIT DIAMANAs.

I will be putting Diamana WB 73S for my 909D2. (This one is set!)

However, I come to realize that it might be better to put Diamana BB 83S for fairway woods because I want them to land softer and have a slight higher flight when hitting from the fairway. Is this a right way to go or should I be consistant with my driver and put a Diamana WB 83S on my fairways too? My SS is 105-115.

I will be getting 909F3 15* and 909F2 18.5* for my order.

Any information/recommendation would be appreciated.

Seems like decent logic to me. As you can see from my sig I carry a Diamana WB 73 in my driver and an Aldila VS Proto 80 in my 3 wood. I'd say that the VS Proto 80 is similar to a Diamana BB 83 (based on specs anyway, I haven't been able to try a BB 83).

I like this combo for a few reasons...

First the heavier VS Proto in the 3 wood gives me a little bit more control. For the first time in 15+ years, I was scrapping my beloved 2-iron and was going to start carrying a 3 wood. If I was going to leave the 2-iron at home, this 3-wood had to be the same "Robin Hood" that the 2-iron was when it came to hunting fairways and shaping shots. For me, a heavier shaft generally means straighter ball flight. Oddly enough, my current 3 wood is the first fairway wood that I've ever owned that didn't feature a steel shaft (of course, I've only carried a 4 wood on and off over the past 15+ years so that's not saying much).

Second, I wanted something longer than the 2-iron but not quite as long as a "fractional driver" (ie: 70% swing, choke up an inch or two). I also wanted something that would tend to land a bit softer and fly a bit higher w/out ballooning. A 15' 3 wood with a low/mid launch shaft fit this profile perfectly.

Initially my plan was identical to yours. I was going to game the Diamana WB 73 in my driver and get a BB 83 (or even a WB 83) for my 3 wood. The Aldila sort of fell in my lap though so I gave it a try and the combo has worked very well.

Unless you really start ballooning the ball w/the BB, I see no flaw in your logic whatsoever. As I already pointed out though, look what's in my bag, take my comments with a grain of salt.
