I'm purhcasing the new FTIQ driver, have a dilemma, and thus looking for advice. During the fitting session we found the UST V2 shaft was a better fit for my swing than several other shafts, including the stock Fubuki. My concern though is the new shaft sells for around $250 and the V2 is selling for $79. Callaway wants to charge me full price PLUS a $40 upcharge to customize the shaft. I hate to give up a $250 shaft for one below $80 and still pay full price (and then some). Anyone else experience this or have a suggestion? My thinking is to just go with the stock shaft even though the spin rates are a bit higher. If it becomes a problem buy the V2 and have it replaced down the road, which may end up costing more than the upcharge.

(Really wanted the Matrix Ozik Xcon but Callaway wanted another $300 to customize with that shaft. $800 for a driver, I don't think so!)

Any ideas?

There was actually a similar thread about companies upcharging for a less expensive shaft. I can't figure it out. I think you are stuck. You either pay the extra $$$$ or get the stock shaft. I guess you could try to remove the stock shaft, sell it, then buy the V2 at no cost to you.

You would be looking at about $80 to get the V2 after buying the driver.

Get both shafts, if needed. You will have 2 incredable shafts at your disposal. You migh even be able to sell one if you wanted to.

I could totally sell you an X Con i have laying around..but its 264 CPM.. haha

If i were you, i would poke around some other sites, like WRX, and find either an FT head, or one with the Fubuki..either way it will be cheaper than buying from cally, and with the saved money you can get your V2.

i would just buy the driver with the stock shaft, take that one out and put the one you really want in it and sell that other shaft either on ebay or a shaft store online.

I'm not buying it fom Callaway (probably should have mentioned this). I had over $500 in gift cards for Dicks Sporting Goods and wanted to treat myself to a new driver. Unfortunately, Dicks is letting Callaway name their upcharge and not discounting it to the customer. I'm sure they are only paying a fraction of the upcharge; they are in business to make money.

I can't argue with them wanting to make a few bucks and, honestly, it isn't costing me anything so I'm not as concerned. If I buy the V2 separately and have it installed its out of my own pocket. Side note: Called Callaway last night- According to Callaway the Fubuki stock shaft is not the same as the Fubuki that sells retail. They claim it is a much lower quality shaft hence the price difference. The stock shaft, although called a premium shaft, is closer to the V2 cost than the Fubuki $250 shaft I thought was offered.
