After reading a few articles on various forums I decided to give my beloved 588 RTG a facelift. It's a work in progression and it should be finished by tomorrow.

Process (I read about it on some other forums):

1. Didn't have that solvent to remove the original paintfill, but it was well worn off so I took an Exacto knife and just picked out the rest of the old paint..I did the picking outside the house.

2. Washed the area, again, and dryed it..used a hair dryer..impatient.

3. I chose to go with the "Flat Yellow" by Testor's. I heard this was the most widely used/trusted brand to do this.

4. Got a bunch of toothpicks..the round kind with a good point and dabbed it into the paint. Just a little bit.

5. Applied the paint into the cavity of the stampings. Wa-lla!

It looks kinda messy right now but tommorrow I'm going to go over it with a wool pad and that should wipe off any of the excess..or I'll just wipe it with some Acetone.

Here's a picture I took a few minutes ago*:

*IMPORTANT: If you plan on doing this in the house wait till the wife leaves..

Nice! I just wonder how long it'll last... A few bunker shots or some hard dirt and I've gotta wonder...

yeah..I also heard that the Testor's paint isn't doesn't adhere to metal that well..there's some auto paint called "2-in-1"..I guess that's stronger..I'll put a picture up after I play with it tomorrow.

First of all, that looks really good...you did a nice job. If you were planning to hang the thing up in your office or something it might have been time better spent, though: I'm kind of curious as to what that's going to look like after a few weeks of blasting balls out of the sand.

It might have been best to just give it a good scrubbing, but I hope it holds up to the wear and tear of regular use. I know my sand wedge takes a real beating out there...

Build your own...Total cost of my complete set of golf clubs: 500 bucks.Beating a guy who sports a $2000 bag of : priceless.

I played with it yesterday and it seems to be holding up so far..but no sandie shots..maybe today..but I guess I rather not be in the sand from the start..hehe
