I decided that i want to be unique with my irons and custom paintfill them (if my folks let me), and wanted to know how and what i use to do it. I had seen some pics of customs done on some other golf sites, and it looks sweet. I am a huge fan of like lime green, and wanted to ad that to my irons and vokeys. I was wondering how carefull you had to be with the solvent, and if it would wear out the oilcan finish on my Vokeys. Also, where do u buy the equipment to do this? Thanks for any replies and suggestions.

depends on what you are using at solvent. most of the time you don't need to worry about ruining a finish. Just put the paint in the numbers or wherever you are putting it. Don't worry about getting it on other parts of the club because it will come off. Let it sit for 20 mins than take a paper towel with the solvent and wipe away the excess paint.
I use just your common hobby paint with a brush and it has always worked perfectly.

nail polish remover work fine for this. You just have to pick it out with a toothpick or a screwdriver tip. Really easy to do.

Acetone and a toothpick (or wooden shish-kabob skewer) to remove paint. Dry thoroughly (with hairdryer).

To repaint - use an enamel paint (like Testors enamel Model Paint). Let dry very thoroughly.

I did mine about a week ago. It takes a while to scrape out the paint, I used a screwdriver head and nail polish. Maybe acetone would work faster?

If you let Acetone sit in the paint for 30 seconds... it wipes right out.

Ahhh. Thanks. That didn't happen with the nail polish remover, I guess because it's not pure acetone. Can you purchase acetone at local Home Depots?

Yeah... 5 bucks will give you a lifetime worth of acetone... it will evaporate long before you could ever use it all.
