One more relic gives up the ghost. I'm finally giving up my trusty old wristy putting stroke for a conventional modern stroke. I really like the wristy stroke in that I felt it gave me great touch, but it has been really letting me down lately. I played 9 holes the other day and 3 putted 5 times! I've been struggling just to keep it under 50 for 9, leaving lots of putts short and missing too many short ones. I actually switched strokes after 7 holes on Saturday because I was getting frustrated, and 2 putted the last two holes, with some pretty long lags. I'd already been using that stroke when bunting with my 7w from the fringe (pretty effectively), so it wasn't like it was completely new.

I picked up a second-hand Never Compromise Z/I Omega center shafted mallet putter today. It seemed to fit the new stroke really well and most importantly is a putter that I would not use a wristy stroke with, so hopefully it will help prevent the old stroke from creeping into the new one.

That's all.

I've always liked a center-shafted putter, but then I have more of a square-to-square putting stroke which is what those type of putters work best for. The design really helps keep the stroke square through the stroke as opposed heel shafted putters which seem to work better for inside-to-inside putting strokes.

Good luck. Putting is as much confidence in your stroke and putter as anything else. Hopefully these changes cut out those pesky 3 putts.
