Hey, wondered if anyone out there had tried one of the Medicus Maximus weighted driver. I was interested in getting one but couldn't really find any reviews on it. Wondered if it would actually do some good and give some positive feedback. Anyone's thoughts??

I think weighted clubs are one of the best training aids out there! I have no personal experience with the Medicus model, but like anything else, if you use it properly, it will help. Here's the only Amazon review for the club. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Take It Easy, February 8, 2008 By RCH "teacherrich" (Nevada City, CA USA) - See all my reviews I've used a weighted club for the past year with dramatic results. Within the first month, I was 10-15 yards longer off the tee. Irons are affected less for distance, but I spin the ball more. A year later, I have added about 20 yards to my drives. At 61 years old, that's pretty good!

I've had a few different training clubs, and then picked up the Medicus Maximus about 3 weeks ago at the suggestion of a teaching pro. I truly is the best training club or device I've used. It has really helped me set the club into the right position at the top and then drop it nicely into the proverbial slot. It also helps a lot making a smoother transition at the top to start the downswing. I've seen a noticable improvement in my consistency and ball striking since I've started to use it, and I believe my clubhead speed is starting to inch up a bit too. I'm expecting that a few months of regular use will really help me set my swing better and pick up a few yards as well.

The thing I really like about the Medicus Driver is you can hit balls with it, even with the 460cc head.

It took me a few swings as I had some obvious flaws in my golf swing I had no idea were there. Once I got the hang of hitting balls with the Medicus Driver (after about 20 minutes), my swing was no less than amazing! I suddenly realized before the Medicus Driver I had been rushing my take away, now I'm giving my golf swing time to develop which has helped my power and consistantcy tremendously. Even my 13 year old daughter was hitting balls with the Medicus Driver in no time and she's a beginner golfer. I now keep Medicus Driver in my bag! Make sure you buy the Medicus Driver from the Medicus Golf site, you'll get FREE shipping and it will ship within 24 hours. If you decide to buy the Medicus Driver on Ebay - BUYER BEWARE!! You may not get the bonuses and shipping time could take forever.

Anyone else have any experience with the Maximus Weighted Driver? I'm thinking of getting one, but debating between it and the Momentus Power Hitter.

Any other thoughts out there?

bump.... will try one more attempt.

Anyone use a Medicus Maximus Driver before? If so, what did you think?

I actually picked up one and have taken a few swings with it. I had a power hitter and sold it about a year ago, I didn't like it because it just seemed way too heavy in the clubhead and screwed with my tempo too much. Anyways with those few swings I took I did notice it was a little lighter and did not seem quite as heavy in the clubhead, the weight felt much better dispursed throughout the whole club. It might be until the first of next week before I have a chance to actually hit it because we are going to be getting about 3" of snow. I will post A response with my findings, also got it on eBay for $130 with free shipping and it included the power meter as well as the manual and Camillo instructional DVD and got it in under a week. I can get you the seller info if you are interested.

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to pick one up today on Ebay. I'll let you know what I think once I get it. Much appreciated!

I just bought a Medicus Maximus on eBay and tried it last night. It weighs around 2 lbs 4 oz, with most of the weight distributed throughout the entire shaft (the head seems lighter). I could swing it OK and definitely felt it stretching out my arms, back and waist muscles. My swing speed is not that great (right under 80mph) so I'll try it out for a few weeks and see if I notice any improvements.

I'll probably order that power meter next in order to measure my progress better.

2011 Goals:
* Improve club-head speed to 90 mph with the driver
* Ensure increased speed does not compromise accuracy
* Prevent overextending on the back-swing (left-arm is bending too much at the top)
* Relax arms initially at address ( too tense)* Play more full rounds (failed from 2010)

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
