Diamana Whiteboard Driver Shaft questions

I'm currently using the stock Diamana White that Taylormae provides in the Tour Burner TP. I'm thinking about reshafting it with the real Diamana Whiteboard shaft. After doing a lot of reading, it seems like its the shaft that fits what I'm looking for. My question is what version.....the 63, 73 or 83??? Who has expreience with these shafts??? Please advise....I don't like a club that feels like a sledge hammer, but I also don't like a club that feels like I'm holding a wiffle bat. I'm torn between the 63 X or the 73 S......

The difference between the 63, 73, and 83 is pretty much just the weight of the shaft. Launch conditions will vary slightly due to the weight but not much. The general trend is that the heavier you get the lower and straighter your ball flight will be. As weight increases, swing speed generally decreases as well (which is a major factor in the lower/straighter). For me, I also see a drop in spin with a heavier shaft. I'm not sure if my results fit the "norm" but that's how it works for me anyway. Best advice is to try out all 3 and see what happens to the ball flight and how things feel.

When I got my Whiteboard I was used to a lighter shaft (61g IIRC). I found that the 73 was more consistent for me and the difference in distance was really negligible. Being a huge fan of steel shafts, I also found that I liked the feel of the slightly heavier shaft a bit more as well. This is totally subjective however. On my 3 wood I went heavier yet. Again, a different feel and slightly more control. Since I have I-Mix, I will very likely get an 83 to compliment my 73 for windy days. In the wind I prefer a lower launch with less spin since my main focus is control. In most cases I work with the wind rather than trying to to work the ball in the wind, I find (again for me) that trying to work the ball against the wind isn't as predictable as I'd like.

From the sounds of it you're going to be leaning towards either the 63 or 73. If you can't try both I'd suggest comparing them to your current shaft and take into account what things you like/don't like about it vs what you can likely change by swapping shafts. Who knows, maybe the Blueboard would be a better fit for you? You didn't say anything about your ball flight so there is no way for us to even speculate which Diamana is going to fit you best (note: speculate is all that we can do, there is no such thing as online club fitting, not done correctly anyway).

I would try and get fit for one of them, that's a really expensive shaft to take an educated guess on. They are incredible shafts I was close to dumping an additional $200+ to put the whiteboard in my driver but the additional distance vs my V2 wasn't worth the extra money in the long run.

That being said, I hit the whiteboard 73X this past fall at a demo day and it's incredible. I can defintely see why all the guys on tour use this shaft.

what are you driving stats? launch angle, swing speed, spin rate etc?

no matter what any of the above are just now though, you must go and get fitted.

In my case i went to titleist to get fitted and i had a ss of 114mph with a launch angle of 16.6* with really low spin with my 907D2 9.5* with stock stiff fujikura speeder shaft and i went in expecting to get told to get a 909D3 with a whiteboard 73s (or something along those lines anyway) from what i had read about it (ie high kickpoint low torque etc)

however with a slight tweak to my swing in which i stopped holding my wieght back on my right side so much i walked away with a 8.5 909D2 with a Rombax 6X07 X-flex which has a mid/low kickpoint and high torque. this has my launch angle at about 10.5* and a spin rate of 2300rpm and its the best driver i have ever hit in my life!!

IMO you should get fitted as it will only benefit you getting to try lots of shafts rather than jsut the one type

I would like to hit the ball lower. Last time I had my swing looked at on a computer the launch angel was around 14 degrees and th swing speed i beleive averaged from 105 to 120 depending on if i swung smoothly or ripped at it. I've heard that this is the shaft to help keep the ball down will little spin and its good for guys who like to go after it everynow and then. Basically i'd like to know who has hit the shafts and what flexes and weights were they.
