I bought some Golf Pride New Decade Multicompound red grips from a seller on eBay. The seller has many listings for sets of 10. When I got them they seemed different then the ones that I bought from Dicks and another golf store. It probably wouldn't be a problem if I hadn't seen the ones from the store. The ones from ebay had cord that didn't have as full coverage and the cord was more pale white compared to the cord of the store which was more gray. Is there an older version of this grip that looks this way? They look authentic but seem different. Why would this be? Thanks for the help.

I dunno. Ive been using those grips for years and havent noticed the cord coverage or color at all. You might have gotten some factory rejected product or something like that. If you dont see it as a problem you're probably safe using them.

I agree with the "factory rejected" statement. I bought some of those grips a year ago and they felt very different from the Golfsmith-bought ones. The black part felt way to rough, didn't have as much cord, and were very thin. I think it's better off buying those grips from Golfsmith next time.

What I got from two different sources at Golf Pride is that they were possibly counterfeit- the lady over the phone said this. I thought it might be true although the grips looked authentic with just a slight difference in the cord quality. The email they responded with said the difference was due to the new technology they are using in these grips. It is called, BTC (brushed cotton technology). They said, "This new material is much softer than the previous cord used. We’ve found this cord to be durable and easy on the hands." Seems about right! Thankfully, if I want I can send the grips back for a refund. Another thing that they said was that they do not have any factory seconds on the market.

Here's a link to an eBay Guide on how to spot fake GCMC grips. I just bought 10 of these off eBay and according to this guide it looks like I got lucky and they are the real thing. I never even thought to check for "counterfeit" grips so I'm glad I think I got the real deal...

The fake ones were the ones I had. Man... I got ripped off.

That is an eye-opener. I was fooled! The ones that I got were definitely the ones listed on that link. I sent them back because I wanted grips with the new cord that Golf Pride told me about. They looked very close to authentic except for minor differences that I thought were due to the model changes or new technology, not counterfeit! The seller on eBay was: bjlee9680. Throughout this process he has been fast to respond and very nice about what I thought was me being picky. I am just waiting now to see if I in fact get my money back. Slim to none?

I actually got my refund today. He included in the payment shipping both ways. That is one considerate counterfeiter!

    • Day 34 (14 Dec 25) - Got outside for a few moments to work on bump and runs with the 4h (again using the exaggerated weight shift reminder of the left (lead) heel). Finding that it helps keep the downswing arc extended.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
