Your thread about the sumo hybrid got me thinking..

I really hate my hybrid.

You talk about how easy yours is to hit, adn how towering the ball flight is, versatility, etc etc, and i realize, mine does none of this!!

I use it maybe, MAYBE! once a round.. adn thats just to escape rough on par 5's.. Never even used it on a par 4, or 3.

So i guess what im saying is, thanks dub for giving me an extra spot in my bag for my new wedge set up!

Anyone else have anything like this happen?

Good thinkin! Regardless of HOW you hit the hybrid, if you aren't hitting it that much then why have it in the bag? I had a 20* 3 hybrid that I hit quite well. That thing was in cherry condition when I traded it because I never hit it on the course.

Why carry a club if it gets no action?

is the hybrid you dislike the one in the sig (the Idea Pro)?

If so, I have a completely different experience with mine. I wouldn't call it super easy to hit as it's not a SGI high MOI type hybrid, but it does have a high trajectory and is extremely versitle... for me at least. I use my hybrids all the time on tight par 4's, long par 3's and to go at par 5's... my balls usually land pretty damn soft too. I can work the ball both ways with them, although prefer a slight fade as it lands softer... I don't know what I would do without them. weird how we feel so differently about them...

Haha, tell me about it. we even both ahd 20 degree hybrids lol. It just never fit in a spot. I hit my 3 iron just fine, and the hybrid just never fit a situation.

Yea, its the idea pro with a Matrix Ozik ALTUS with almost a 2 iron shaft, so that it doubles as a 2 and 3 iron. I mean i hit it fine, but its just not as consistent as my 3 iron. i feel that i make two good swings and one comes up 10 yards shorter than the other. It baffles me. I use mine literally, once a round, and not at all since there really is no rough to speak of at the moment. Thats they only time i use it is from the rough on par 5's. As on tight par 4 i have a 3 iron, or a 3 wood.

i guess thats why golf is such a weird game, same club, one love, one hate..

It's sorta freakish. This particular hybrid is so much easier for me than others I've tried (very limited number, though).

I've always thought of myself as a decent long iron player.....however the versatility is limited to full or partial tee and fairway shots.

I don't do so well from some of the lies that the hybrid does just fine from. It's definitely a keeper.

I'm gonna play 18 today and really try to get a fix for what the distance is on the stick in comparison to my 4 iron.

Must just be a bad one, you should buy another!

I got the same driver Tiger uses and where his goes high and long with a nice draw, mine does none of that!
