Last year I purchased a TM Superquad driver. I got on a launch monitor and the numbers, launch angle, spin, etc. were pretty good. Most shots went slightly right... 10-15 yards. My swing speed indicated I could used a stiff instead of a regular flex shaft but that was at the end of the season.

I almost ordered a shaft but decided to wait. Over the winter watching golf one TV I noticed that a lot of the pro's drivers looked shorter then mine at address.

So before I did a shaft change I decided to shorten the shaft on the butt end. I made an adapter for my air hose and was able to remove the grip without damage. I cut 3/4" off the butt end of the driver shaft. That changed the swing weight from a D4 to a D0. I then stuffed the head with cotton and the swing weight came back up to a D3.5.

The driver felt great. I felt like I was in control of the club instead of trying to control the club. Before the modification it felt to long and out of control. I think I made the right decision.

I played my first round of the season last week and could feel my club speed was down from the end of last year. I was stiff and my back was sore. Fortunately playing golf helps my back but if I had gone to a stiffer shaft that may have been a mistake.

I ended up hitting 88% of the fairways . It is amazing how much easier this game is with a well placed first shot! ;)

Glad it worked out! Just wondering, how do you measure the swingweight of your driver?
