Well, getting back in the game, I'm realizing a few things. I never really had my irons I play fitted, I had them bent up 1 degree (I know that's what I am). I play Tommy Armour 845S ti's. They're about 8 years old now .. with the stock stiff g-force graphite (3.3 low torque). I love the shaft .. the feel of the club. Most of my misshits occur from my hands slipping off the club. I'm a tall guy, 6'5", with stock shafts that are 1/2" longer than standard. And one of my tells is the fact that my left hand gets a little high on the club so the whole hand isn't on it .. and it's because I think the clubs need to be about an inch longer.

Did some measuring tonight, wrist to floor length is 39 1/2 - 39 3/4. Requiring about 1 1/2" longer than standard shafts.

Did some research and found aluminum/graphite and wood shaft extensions. I used to build clubs and do a lot of repair when working in golf shops through college .. and kind of avoided extending steel shafts because it added too much weight.

These look a little better, lighter .. I like the wood one, thinking that would be the lightest, I could even make them myself (got a lathe and a big woodworking shop in the garage!) ..

Only thing - I regripped end of last year with some expensive winn grips that I like, want to save them .. just got to find that solvent filled container that has the needle .. remember using them in the shop.

But, anybody tried this? Thoughts? Experiences?

Well, first of all:

But for the price, you could just buy the same grips and have new.

They also carry the extensions

About the only thing I'd question is, if you add a one inch extension to the shaft, would you still want the upright lie adjustment?

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. They still make Golf Pride Tour Wraps .. I love those grips .. and golfsmith still sells them for $2.30 or so..

The one I used when working in shops was different then the one you show, the needle was attached directly to the pump, no pressurised hose ..

Gonna have to do some testing if I extend it to see how the lie changes. I can easily take the clubs into a shop to change the lie, that's not a big deal.

    • the rules have changed, but this would fall under 11.2 in the current rules.  General Penalty to any player who deliberately deflects a ball in motion, and you must replay the putt.
    • Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.
    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
