Hey guys, i think im going to go ahead and put these shafts on my 695 cb's. I have a quick question though, regarding length of shafts. I realize the standard length for a 5 iron is suppose to be 38 inches. The guy i might buy these shafts for on ebay displays the 4 iron shaft length as 37.5 inches. Are these shafts really short? Or does the shaft gain some length when installed into the club head?

Hi i measured my titleist zm(LLL standard) #4 iron, The total length is 38.5" include the club head(as it should be). I am guessing that 37.5 for the shaft only is fair.

Thank you, but do you know how much the club increases the length of the shaft by? Is it .5 inches, 1 inch.....?

Or in other words, what is the standard length of a 4 iron shaft before being installed into the club.

I'm guessing a bit here but the bore depth of a typical iron will be about 1.25" or so. If you have the heads ready to go you can measure one exactly. If you measure the total length from hosel top to ground-line on your irons and then subtract the bore depth that'll tell you how much the completed club is going to be over and above the cut shaft length.

Make sure your eBayer is selling the real McCoy. PX Flighted come as discrete shafts i.e. 2-iron shaft, 3-iron shaft, 4-iron shaft etc etc. I'm pretty sure you can't generate a correctly shafted set from, say, eight 2-iron shafts.

There are no spec that I can find. but if i take the proportion(of ad, see dual hosel) compare to my real club head. I say it adds about 1.25(between 1-1.5). The length of your 4 iron shaft is definitely long enough. 37.5+1.25 > 38.5

Don't worry about it. Install them and butt trim to 1/8" short of your desired length. The grip will make up the other 1/8". The PX are butt trim only shafts.
