Cutting down some clubs

My girlfriend has recently picked up golf, and instead of buying her some new clubs, I figured I would just cut down and regrip some of my old ones. I did some research and it seems like women's clubs are only about an inch shorter. This doesn't seem like enough, would it be bad to cut them down much more...any ideas?

cutting down the clubs might be too stiff for her...but if the clubs are light enough it might not matter, just make sure she likes the grips and the club size!

Send me her height (in shoes) and her wrist-to-floor measurement, and I'll send you the recommended club lengths. Like Tim said, cutting them down may make them way too stiff, but at least you'll know if she likes the game before investing in her own clubs.
