I made a homemade movie of my swing using the movie mode on my digital camera. I tried to get it from a few angles. I do not know if the way I did this is the proper way to film a swing or if a proper critique can be made. A few things I would like to mention. I feel like my left hand at the top of the swing is not in the right position. I can't tell if it is cupped at the wrist or if the face is open or closed at the top. Is the clubhead pointed in the right direction at the top? I also never take consistant divots as I would like to. Can anyone tell me why from viewing this video? Thanks

I think its near impossible to critique your swing from seeing that video. Im assuming you dont hold your swing for three seconds on the course like that. Go to the driving range with a friend and also get a shot of your whole body in the swing not just your upper body, the lower body tells a lot, (Weight shift, possible reverse pivot, ball position)

theres some stuff to talk about here still tho.

Even tho you're exaggeration your top of backswing position and using a weighted club, your move thro the ball is pretty solid.

You get into the slot nicely and you have a good balanced follow through. its a good move. But cant really look at it fully until I see it regular speed and with the added factor of actually trying to acheive ball contact

I think the things you should concentrate on are your positions at address.

You could maybe work on your shoulder and head postions and try staightening out your spine angle. Shoulders are very bunched up and you could maybe benefit for trying to attain a more relaxed, neutral position.

Try posting some actualy swings if possible and post what your ball flight is etc etc

Personnaly Im a bigger believer in shaft plane vs swing plane. So it'd be interesting to see your full body and shaft positions as you hit some shots

Good luck with your golf!

    • So the 75 yard 8 iron is probably not something you'd want to use regularly. It's potentially useful for keeping it under branches or if you have a reason you need it to run a lot after it lands, but for a regular shot that will have so little stopping power as to not be particularly controllable. Especially if you have a 75 yard shot with your 54. The shots as you vary distance and club will change in carry/roll, height and landing angle. Really useful to have more than one club for a given yardage for things like skipping it up a tier or landing one softly near the front of the green, but there are limits to that. In general I don't think you'd want to be hitting an 8 iron shorter than your "full" 9 iron distance and so on up the bag. Keep those partial shots to your wedges.
    • Now that we’re hearing that Jim Furyk has been tapped for a second captaincy, I have a genuine question that I don’t have an answer to. Why has my avatar David Toms never gotten a captaincy of anything? Has he ever even been a vice-captain? He’s a major winner with ten other Top Tens in majors. Senior major winner, too. Played on three Ryder Cup teams and four Presidents Cup teams. Is there bad blood here or something? 🤔
    • Older thread, I realize.  I'm throwing the idea of purchasing Hack Motion 3, the older version.   Is it a worthy investment for a 15 handicap that plays twice per week and practices twice per week?    I have to convince my boss!
