I see you went from an Fti to the new Mizuno. If you could tell me how the 2 compare, I'd appreciate that.

hehe, funny how i came across your message to me. i was almost going to sign off, but looked for "new posts" and saw this...

anyway, there is a difference between the 2, that is for sure. the Mizunos face is hotter than the FT-i. im getting about 10, sometimes 15 more yards out of the Mizuno too. but im having a harder time keeping the ball in the fairway. ive been hooking the ball a little more lately, and i think its because the face is 1º closed compared to my FT-i which was neutral. im actually on my way out the door right now to work on that at the range. also, the Mizuno launches the ball a tad higher than the FT-i as well, but then again, my FT-i was a 9º, and my MX-700 is a 10.5º. as soon as i can start controlling it a little better, im sure it will be money. i just need to work on keeping it in the fairway a little more. but all-in-all, its a great driver. it has a hot face, and it is long. are you thinking about getting one?

I've been shopping around for a new driver. I love my mizuno irons and hybrid, so I started looking into their woods as well. One of my finalists is the Fti, it felt good when I demoed one.

The clubs I have narrowed it down to are:
Callaway Ft-i
Cleveland HiBore XLS Draw
Cobra Speed LD line
Nike Sumo2
If I demo one and like it alot, I may drop the extra money on the new Mx 700

Any other input from you or anyone else is greatly appreciated. Thanks

well, i just got back from the range and i pretty much worked it out. the mx-700 is DEFINITELY longer than the FT-i. the FT_i is just a tad more forgiving and easier to keep straight. another driver i REALLY like is the Callaway Diablo. that thing is awesome. and actually, i would've picked that over the MX-700, but i got a deal on the MX-700 that i couldnt refuse (free). i would've had to pay for the Diablo. i mean, they are all good drivers, and it all just depends on what YOU like, but for me, i like the Diablo the best, then the MX-700... good luck

    • Day 24: did a stack session. Worked a bit on downswing feels during breaks.
    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
