Is there any reason that I shouldn't play the most forgiving driver and/or 3 wood there is?
I rarely (if ever) work my driver. My natural shot with the driver is straight to slight draw. Sometimes I'll try to cut it a bit, but only if I really have to. As for my 3 wood, off the tee, I like straight to slight draw. Sometimes off the fairway, I'll play a power/slight fade. Most of the time though, I want these clubs to go dead straight.
The key to my game is driving and approach shots (sorry Mr. Putter and Mrs. Short Game). If I'm in the fairway with reasonable distance, I have more of a chace at a par. Should I just buy the most forgiving driver and/or 3 wood I can find? Or is there something I'm missing here?

Thanks.

yeah if you don't like to work the ball or don't have too buy the most forgiving thing that fits your eye the same isn't for shafts though don't buy something with 5.5 torque just cause it helps you close the club face you have to look at trac. spin and torque a bit anything like 3.5 to 2.7 isn't the highest but will work if the spin and trac. is rigth

if you like to hit the ball straight, then yeah, i say go with something ultra forgiving (Cleveland Monster, Callaway FT-iq, etc etc etc). i dont see why you should get something "workable" if you dont play that way

Dont most drivers and 3's claim to be "the most forgiving out there"?

There is one potential drawback to hitting it dead straight. You get less distance that way. A little draw spin is a good thing if you need more distance. You get more roll out.
