That about sums up this weekends tournment. Saturday was a nasty rainy morning and I had an early tee time. I ran into trouble with my drive on the first 3 holes and didnt capitalize on 2 par fives. Then on the fourth hole my bad luck kicked in. I hit a an 8 iron to a a front pin that was about 15 feet on the green, the front of the green is shaved and if you are short the ball will roll off the green and down about 60 feet. Well i hit a solid 8 iron about 170 yards and it lands 5 feet away and spins back right off the green ....... another bogey. Finally I put together a soild 5 holes and 5 of the hardest holes on the course in -1. But then again I bogey another par 5 10th and par 3 11th. Now on the 12th is a really tight par 4 that you have to hit a really solid 2 iron or 3 wood and then you have about 150-120y in to a very tough 3 tier green that slopes from back to front. If you come up short the ball will roll off the green and you will be stuck with a 20-30 yard pitch. Its a front pin and again I take extra club and hit a little 3/4 9iron and it lands hole high spins a little and off the green it goes. No rewards for good shots! Plus I sucked ass today! Long story short 83 but It was a tough course and allt he scores were high and i was in the middle of the pack.

So Sunday morning and its raining again! another early tee time. This time a good start with a birdie on the first. second hole it all goes bad.... I hit my second shot into the green side bunker. I get up to the bunker and i am on a nice lie but there is very little sand in that part of the bunker and what sand there is, is very wet. I catch it thin and it just goes off the green. there is a veyr steep drop off on the back of the green and the grass is very wet... so i go to walk down it and of course sssllliiippppp............ on my ass lol and tique my lower back. I continued on but every shot i hit was so painful. I lasted till the 13th hole and couldnt make a 3/4 turn without crapping my pants in pain, so i called it a day and a very dissapointing weekend tourny.

Its time to rest the back and in a couple days hit the range and see where my back is at. I have a few tournys over the next few weeks and this is a bad time for an injury. I have another big tourny coming up next weekend, mixed in with a nice week vacation the Whistler the home of the 2010 Winter Olympics. So that will be a nice get away, time to relax and play some fun golf. I will post how things go. happy hunting everyone/.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
