I have to say that the Powermaximus 460cc Driver is the "REAL DEAL"!

I have been working with it for about 3 weeks and I am hitting the ball like I was In my late 20's and my irons are becoming scary long! I hit a 7-iron 180 yards today and thats way past my normal yardage!

I would recomend this club as well as the dual hinge Medicus 5-iron as the two best ever created practice clubs in the history of golf!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see so many guaranteed swing trainers but this one struck me as interesting. Any other comments? I'd be interested in learning if the pros use trainers like this outside of their swing coach.

Always wondered about the medicus. I'm in the fairway most of the time but I'm short off the tee (220 yds) and shorter with all my clubs than most.

I have a Medicus Driver and 5-iron. I agree with what the thread's creator said. They are both great clubs. It teaches a smooth(albeit slow) tempo of the golf club and teaches you how the golf club should move throughout the swing.

I'm still working out with my Maximus every time I hit balls on the range and like I stated in my original post I mostly contribute the Maximus to regaining lost distance.

I also started a core strengthing program back in March but unfortunately I'm just now getting over a bad case of bronchitus and have missed my workouts for the last 3 weeks but hope to get back at it this coming week.

At my age of 43 it's inspiring to see guy's like Couples, Veejay, and Perry still hit the ball a long way as they aproach 50.

Anyone else using the Maximus with results?

I have the dual hinged 5-Iron and it's amazing...I just have so much confidence in my swing...Consistency in my swing is something I've always wanted and I'm definitely getting very good results with it

Edit: Oh yeah it not only helps my Irons, but my Driver and Woods...basically my entire swing feels better across the board.

Isn't this just a weighted driver?

Maybe I'm dense (not ever actually having used the product) but couldn't you accomplish the same thing by going to Goodwill, spending $2 on a used club, and filling the shaft with sand?

I suppose you could find an old steel headed club for $2 at Goodwill, drill a hold in the top, fill the head with sand, then plug the hole.

Either way would seem to be a much cheaper way to get a weighted club. But, like I said I've never actually used the Medicus weighted club.

I too have the 5 iron. The main benefit for me is anytime my swings starts getting loose I head back to the backyard and start hitting practice balls. The one thing I notice right away is how quick my takeaway gets. So by smoothing out the takeaway it sets the club on plane and really helps me make a pause at the top which is key for my swing. I have read some negative comments others have made about this club but it straightens out any minor issues I have. Of course it doesn't take place of a teaching pro but it does help re-enforce some key postions and helps me during the week when I can't get to the range.

Anyone have the dual-hinged driver? Or would the 5-iron be good enough for all clubs?

Do the hinges on a Medicus break down if your weight transfer is poor? I'm having some issues with getting to the left side lately. WOuld the Medicus unit help on transfer or just swing plane? Thanks!
I make all my own clubs:
Driver: Snake Eyes Python XLD | | 3-Wood: Snake Eyes Python XL Faiway, 15*  | | Snake Eyes HT Iron Set, 3-, 4-Utility, 5-, 6-Hybrid, 7-PW Cavity Back | | Golfsmith G-40 Wedges, 52, 56, 60 | | Distance Master DM-AS2 Putter | |Ball? The last one I found ... that... was YOURS!!

You guys think the weighted driver is better than the dual hinge? I have a cheap 8 iron weighted club I picked up at Fleet Farm years ago. I use it to warm up and get loose. It's practically identical to the original Momentus iron.

I don't know if I can justify the cost of a new one. Hopefully I can snag one used for cheap.

Isn't this just a weighted driver?

I was cleaning out the garage this morning and found my old Goldwyn AVDP aluminum head driver. I remembered the above quoted text and thought "why not?".

I drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the top of the head and packed it with some sand that was leftover from the pool filter. I capped the hole with a dab of epoxy. It's perfect! The driver is nicely weighted and still swings great. I compared the feel to my neighbors medicus driver and I'll bet a blindfolded guy could NOT tell them apart. At first I thought the head might fly off (I guess it still might) but, so far, so good. My out of pocket cost was $0 because I had all the stuff laying around. If you're thinking of spending $XX on a weighted club, you may want to spend very few $$$ and take the above route. Great Tip!!
