Has anyone ever trimmed their putter shaft? I was wondering what the results would be like. I know the swing weight would get lighter but are there any other effects?

As long as you just take it down just an inch or so, there should be no other issues. If you absolutely must have the same swing weight, it can be brought back up to factory specs using some tungsten powder. Odds are, there will be no discernible difference in the feel of the putter. Remember to add a wrap or two more tape on the grip because the shaft (usually) gets progressively smaller the further down you go. Grip circumference will be more noticeable than and swing weight change. Of course the "flex" of the putter will change, but that's not normally an issue, unless you're consistently attempting 80 yard putts! Putters get cut all the time. It's one of the easiest mods in the game.

I had a couple of putters cut down because the only ones in the shop were 35" and I wanted them 34". One I got cut down before I used it and the other one I used a couple of times first. I didn't really notice a difference in the weight.
