Which is great, except for the courses that you play that don't have 3G coverage. I got one of those for my iPhone, and have been able to use it once the entire year, because the courses I play all have spotty coverage.

Nah, this app does not rely on 3g, it uses GPS only. When the other guys here have spent up on $300 of their hard earned cash on a PinSeeker I will just take the $270 I saved and buy myself a few lessons. LOL. I assume you have to hold this PinSeeker device up to your eyes ... ie more delays for the people behind you, my phone just sits on top of my buggy and I just read off my distance as I'm taking the club out of my bag.

You see the thing I don't get about gadgets like the PinSeeker where you have to actually have to be able to see the pin in order to get a reading is that it's only when you go off the beaten path , bushes or something where you can't see the pin and you can't make a decent guess using fairwary markers, that you really need to get an accurate measurement. My $30 phone app never lets me down while ye PinSeeker guys are stuck there with $300 of useless equipment

I've had a dedicated GPS, but now I have a GPS program on my iPhone (same performance). The GPS is great because it you get a reading at a glance, but sometimes you do need to stand there for a few seconds until the GPS has "settled" to your new position. In find getting a rangefinder reading to be equally fast. Lift rangefinder, shoot, put down. The whole operation can take 10 seconds max. Of all the fooling around on the golf course I see which delays me, those 10 seconds would be the least offensive. Its the guys hunting for their balls in the woods for 5 minutes that get me going.

Unfortunately, my game is such that if I can't see the pin then it is very unlikely for me to be able to hit the green. There have been a few situations I suppose where I saw that the whole is "in range" but getting onto the green from such blind shots usually requires some fancy ball shaping or corner cutting. 95% of the time the laser is plenty accurate.

I have a GPS app on my phone that I rarely use, I'm good at dialing in distance with my eyes and adjusting my swing for diffrent yardages.

However I play almost always on the same courses. I have found on new courses It helps me a lot!

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
    • Distances look fine, no?
    • Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.
