I've never had a problem in the past but my current Footjoys (which have been worn about 10 rounds) are beginning to rub a spot on my right heel. I've been carrying a lot lately and have noticed that my right heel gets pretty sore about 1/2 way through the round (left foot is just fine). Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and knows some easy solutions to keep your heel from rubbing on the backs of the shoe? I've tried those Dr. Scholl's heel liners and they are complete garbage. I just slap a bandaid on before the round and that helps with the friction but doesn't cure it. Thanks in advance.

You might want to try mole skin or giant fabric band aids but these remedies do not solve the cause of the problem.

Can you find some defect in the shoe?

How do the shoes fit in general; are they on the tight or loose side?

I've read that heel blisters are caused by shoes that are too tight.

Lastly, I send an email to Foot Joy but I doubt they will do anything if it is a size problem.

Wear two pairs of socks and the shoes a little on the loose side; they'll soften eventually.

I don't believe the shoes are defective. I've had this problem in the past with different shoes but it is always the right foot and never the left. I've checked sizes and both feet are the same but it must be the way I walk or something. I have a very high arch and put most of the pressure on the outside of my feet when walking. These footjoys actually fit great but I have a narrow heel and that is the only part of the shoe that just doesn't feel correct. Thanks for the tip about moleskin. I'll check that out for a temp solution.

I feel like a complete idiot. Didn't even think about 2 pairs of socks. I tried a little thicker/taller sock but not 2. Thanks.

Moleskin is the way to go. I used it a lot when I backpacked to help break in a new pair of hiking shoes. It always took a couple of trips to begin to get comfortable with the stiff construction of good boots, and I never left the trailhead without a supply of moleskin in my pack.

It sounds like your right foot is a different size than your left foot. It's more common than you'd think - almost everyone's foot is about a quarter to a half size different. Maybe not in length, but width matters too.

One of my teachers in high school, her foot was off three sizes. She found some woman with the same sizes on the opposite feet, so they traded shoes all the time.

But anyway, if it happens with lots of pairs of shoes and it's always the right foot, you might want to look into an insert or something for the right foot to make those shoes fit just a little better (or, less likely, an insert for the left foot).

I used to have this problem with my hiking boots.  I found a product that is cheap and it works really well.  It is like a clear bandaid without the tacky square at the back.  My wife uses them when she wears heels, and I borrowed one from her one day.  They have packaging for men and women.  They are called heelsavers, and it is hard to find them.

A thin dress sock under your comfy sock will help wick the moisture off your foot and help prevent hot spots. Or you can use some spray deodorant on your feet to keep them from sweating so much.  At least that's what we did with our combat boots.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
