I am trying to decide which club I should get for my 14th club. I have included distances of my current set of clubs. I have also given some information on each club.

Thriver (I slice it, generally only hit it when the left side is open) Distance: 235~250
7 wood: (I LOVE THIS CLUB) consistently hit it 185-195 straight and high. Off the tee, rough, fairway, etc.
3 hybrid: (my club of choice off the Tee, accurate) hit it about 220 off the tee, and 210 off the fairway, don't get enough loft to hit it from the rough

4 iron: 185-190 don't hit it that often
5 iron-pw all hit well, happy with all of them, good yardage gaps from 175-120
52 degree wedge: 115-105
56 wedge: 90-105

At this point, if I keep my bag as is, I am thinking of adding a 60 degree wedge. This will give me the flop shot around the green, and give me some options inside of 90 yards (I struggle when I am around 30 yards from the green)

Another option is to replace the 7 wood and 4iron with a 4 hybrid, which would allow me to carry a longer club (maybe a 5 wood?) and then get a 60 degree wedge.

Thoughts?

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

Based on the info you provided, I would think a 4 wood ('weak' 3 wood in the 17* loft area) would be a nice option because it would give you a longer option off tee or fairway. The one club you should not replace is your 7 wood because you have said you love that club and the confidence you have is very important. I would see you adding a 4 hybrid in place of 4 iron but that's just an option you'll have to consider based on how you like hitting hybrids. A 4 hybrid is probably going to be longer than a 4 iron, though, meaning it would be more of a replacement for a 3 iron instead of 4. Hybrids are usually 1/2 to 1 full club longer than the iron with the same number on it. It looks like you've got a bit of a gap between your 7 wood and 3 hybrid that might be filled by a 4 hybrid, but it might also leave you with a big gap to your 5 iron. I really do not think a 60* is a good option for most players, especially those with a higher handicap, as they can be very difficult to hit consistently most players are better served to use a less lofted wedge for almost all shots (I learned this lesson the hard way - I always loved my 60 for big flop shots before realizing I was almost always coming up way short for vast majority of shots). With just a little practice on those 30 yard and in shots I think you would find a 52* or 56* is easier to control distance on anyway.

I pretty much agree with the 4wood option. I am suprised your 3 Hybrid is so much longer than your 7 wood, they should be relatively close in distance, playing characteristics and shot shape should be the main difference? Have you tried a 4 hybrid in the same model as your three? I would wait on the 60 degree wedge unless you are ready to put a lot of time into practicing with it.

they have different shafts.

The 7 wood is an oxygen type X offset built to standard length with a flex inbetween regular and stiff. The 3 hybrid is a Powerplay Q2 with a TT lite +.5" trimmed inbetween a regular and stiff flex. I have a spare tt lite shaft that I have thought about converting into a 4 hybrid from the same style

I would say drop the 4 iron and add a 4 wood and a 60* wedge.

I am having trouble finding a 4 wood. As a lefty, and somebody who builds his own clubs I see 5 woods all day long. however, a 4 wood appears elusive. I have found a 19 degree 5 wood that is the same style as the 7 wood that I love.

Check out Callaway Pre-Owned, they've got a few left handed Callaway Steelhead 4 woods. I have a Steelhead 5 and 7 wood and they're both great clubs that I would highly recommend. I'm thinking about ditching my 60* to get the 5 wood back in the bag. I'm pretty sure the Steelhead 5 wood is 17.5* so its more like a 5 wood head with more of a 4 wood loft. There are two left handed titleist 906 series fairway woods that are 18* and 18.5* on there as well right now.

I agree with the others in getting a 4wood to replace the 4iron and add a lob wedge also if you want.

    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
    • Day 1 - 2025-12-20 Starting a new streak, of at least 1. With rain dumping for the next week in the north bay area, I'll be a lot of outdoor net work and maybe some putting. About 10 minutes of 7 iron work, focused on the usuals: weight transfer, keeping hands behind me. I'll have more time in the coming days for video review and maybe some Hack Motion.
