Well in the last few weeks I have completely lost my game. It isn't even funny, I was off to a great start. Well I have noticed that compared to other golfers, when I hit the ball it goes way to bloody high and ends up being decent yardage. But my question is what am I doing wrong that makes the ball look like a long chip. I want a more straight ball path not a really high one, I bet I could get a lot more yardage.

Also it seems that I have a driver from hell, I just can hit that bloody thing straight. It either tails off to the left or right, this is really frustrating.

Any suggestions on what I can do to help this.

if you're hitting it too high, there's only one of two things that are causing the problem, or a combination of the two. 1. you're teeing the ball up too high 2. your weight is staying on your back leg at impact... or both. what i would do first is lower your tee height, and pretend you're hitting a really long iron. by that i mean you should be swinging with a descending blow. doing this will make you shift your weight forward. so, now that you know what it feels like to hit a low driver shot, in other words the opposite of your spectrum, you can work backwards to attain a happy medium where you're hitting it with the preferred trajectory and tee height.

I'm sure lot of the people on here will suggest that you get lessons but if you can't, I'd say try to hold your release and hit down on the ball instead of trying to scoop the ball.

Definately a result of scooping. Put a tee slightly behind the ball and work on hitting the ball first and not touching the tee. I don't like to move the ball back in my stance, as it mess up other parts of the swing. Same ball position, but put something behind it you must avoid, and make sure you hit the ball first with a descending stroke.

I would also recommend practicing with the ball tee'd up. Tee up a ball like you normally would and focus on hitting down on the ball and not coming under it. It is a common problem to come way too much under it when teeing the ball. This will develop a swing where you scoop, resulting in a lot of fat shots from the fairway.

Think of hitting the ball straight forward, not up or down. You'll feel it immediately once you hit the ball with a good descending stroke. It will launch much lower for some time then fall down. I've got the same problem myself. I worked on it some time ago, but forgot about it and was back to scooping. In terms of good ball striking, this is very important. Make sure you work on it for every shot, especially off the turf, where you will be in trouble with scooping the ball.

It's all of my clubs even my irons, Ill be sure to try that.

I will also try that, I took lessons last year just trying to get all of it back.

That makes sense, so even tee up your iron shots?

Without seeing video it's hard to tell but if your hitting it high then your probably coming in too steep. Perhaps your swing has become too upright?

Work on flatening out your swing and you will hit it lower!

Good Luck!

Also it seems that my backswing is to long, It going way to far back which is causing me to swing my hands to the outside and not keep them inside. Which is probably why I'm hitting the ground about 1 inch before the ball.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
