Have old set of irons and about 8 years ago put graphite shafts on them, replacing factory stiff iron shafts. I increased distance but lost some accuracy. Thinking about going back to stiff steel shafts since I hit the ball plenty far and don't need the distance any longer (ate my Wheaties).

What are some quality steel shafts that you would recommend? I am tall and have longer shafts (+.5") I think.

Also, do you think it would be best to go get fitted again just to make sure the fit still works from almost a decade ago?

Thanks,
Hawk

i personally like the True Temper Dynamic Gold Lite and DynaLite shafts. Im also getting ready to put some shafts on 2 sets of heads Ive had laying around. One is a set of BRAND NEW/NEVER HIT Spalding Custom Made forged heads from the mid 80's (same model Trevino used back then)

I also have a set of never used Dunlop Tour Grind heads i want to shaft and Im putting the Dynamic Gold DynaLite shafts on those. They are small heads similar to the DCI 962.

but everyone is different so you might hate those shafts, lol. if you are looking for stiff, the DynaLites wont do you any good cuz they only come in R/S (firm). but the DG Lites come in Stiff, X Stiff, etc.

this isn't true. I play Dynalites in stiff because somebody told me I could. The Dynalite stiff is a VERY stiff shaft. Check out Hireko's DSFI charts for a shaft that will fit your swing. I play a firm (tipped between regular and stiff) TTlite XL in my hybrid and like the ball flight alot. I have a six iron from another set that I have an apollo spectre lite shaft in R and its a nice shaft. the Dynalites are too stiff for me, and I hit a 5 iron around 185 yards.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

umm, yes it

IS true: http://www.truetemper.com/golf/dynalite.asp you are probably talking about the DynaLite Golds or DynaLite Gold SL's. I was not. I was talking about the plain old DynaLites, which is what I have

no, when they say R/S - it is a parrallel tip shaft that you can tip to either Regular or Stiff. I don't know what an R/S in taper tip is. So I guess we might both be right and talking parallel vs. taper tip.

Page 22 of this document shows the Dynalite R to be comparable to the DGSR00. http://www.hirekogolf.com/hireko/web..._Chapter_5.pdf and the Dynalite S to be comparable to the DGS300.

umm, NO, lol... it clearly says:

Available in A/L and R/S combination flexes for parallel woods and irons . Combination meaning a COMBINATION of Regular/Stiff (firm) i was fitted for these shafts by my coach because they are in between Regular and Stiff (R/S), which is where my swing speed is with my irons

Here is the trimming instructions for the parrallel tip truetemper shafts. It has distinct trimming instructions for regular and for stiff. You can trim it inbetween and have a "uniflex" or firm. But in a parrallel shaft, a R/S is a designation that means it can be tipped to either or.

This is right. The old TT dynamics were the same way. They came in R/S, and depending on how you tipped them, they were either regular or stiff. Guess you could tip them somehow to get a combo, but that's not what they were meant for.
