I have been using 10.5* kncok-off Burner since I started to play (so who knows if the specs were correct), and recently switched to a r7cbg Max. I'm hitting about 235, maybe 250 with wind with my Burner I was driving 260's and logest was 281.

I got a simulation bay a Golf Galaxy and realized that my Launch angle with the 10.5 is about 17*+, and my ss was about 85. As I warmed up, I got my ss upto 101. What puzzled me was that when my ss went upto 101, my distance did not increase as much as I thougt (only about 10 yards on avg), the ball trajectory did seem to go slightly higher that @ 85, but I was expecting much better distance at 101.

The guy there told me to switch to a 9 or 9.5* loft and I did I was hitting two clubs but no real difference:

Ping G10 (Reg Shaft) 9.5* - 210, 218, 223
Titliest 903D2 (Reg) 10.5 - 208, 221, 222

What gives??????? Are these drivers that much diffrent that a 9.5 ping could be the same as the 10.5 titliest? I was surprised to see so short distances...and the course with my knock -off I was driving consistently at the 250- 260 mark....

I am at a total loss here...I know distance is not everything....but 30 to 40 yards less does seem a little disapointing to me....

Any thoughts?

It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

Driver lofts are notoriously inaccurate, get them laser checked. I have heard (possibly on this website) that pings run a degree or two higher than marked, so that might be it.

Keep in mind that shafts can also have a small impact on launch angle.

How do you measure your distance on the course? A lot of the times doing tee - distance left to hole is not an accurate measurement of how far you drive. Should try using a GPS to get distance of your drives.

Bring in your driver and hit it on the same launch monitor so you can compare them side by side next time you go in. Good way to compare since you can't take the clubs your interested out to the field.

good point....I used an r7cbg Max that was on the rack for comparison. It was 10.5* and setup to neutral just like like mine.

With all drivers of varying loft and shaft I was a short 220 (avg) ... very disapointed.

Beginners luck ... maybe

The Golf Galaxy be my told me that their system measures swing speed, launch angle and smash factor very accurately.

They also said their yardages are almost always off by 20-25 yards with the driver and 10-15 with irons.

When I was hitting drivers there the other day I was consistently hitting 30 yards shorter than my average and asked what the deal was...the guy then explained it all to me.

Hope that helps.

SWEET!!!

Thanks! I was getting a little worried..I can live with 240 - 250, but 220's??? Yikes!

I would assume that the GG's have all the similar hitting bays with the same launch monitor. What the pro told me was that it was very accurate as to what the distances are. I was hitting most of the drivers I tried only 220-230 which is about right due to crapshoot swing. Although the R9 went about 250 which peaked my interest in finding one for cheap. Some of my drives only go 220 but if its straight I can definitely live with it.
