Yahoo! scoring is as follows. The player with the lowest score (including ties) for a round is awarded 20 fantasy points. 2nd lowest score for that round (including ties) is awarded 18 fantasy points. 3rd lowest score for that round (including ties) is awarded 16 fantasy points, all the way down to 0 points for anyone 10 strokes or more behind the low score for the round.

Each round is independent of all the others. For example, if Robert Allenby shoots the lowest round of 63 in round 1, he gets 20 points. If he shoots a 78 in round two, and the lowest score that round was say 68, he gets 0 points for round 2, giving him a total of 20 going into round 3.

The winner of each event gets 20 bonus points. Second place, including ties, gets 10 bonus points. Third place, including ties, gets 5 bonus points. The most points any one player can score for an event is therefore 100 (4 low rounds plus the 20 bonus points for the win).

You can only use each golfer for a maximum of 10 events all year. Each week you choose eight different golfers: 4 starters and 4 bench players. Bench players don't record a start unless you sub them in and they record at least one round in your starting lineup.

We are currently through 25 weeks of the total 37 weeks in the 2009 PGA Season. Here is the current top ten:

1. Tiger Woods 52.0 points per event
2. Kenny Perry 44.13
3. Steve Stricker 41.61
4. Geoff Ogilvy 39.16
5. David Toms 38.50
6. Charlie Hoffman 37.33
7. Sean O'Hair 37.23
8. Henrik Stenson 36.83
9. Jim Furyk 36.58
10. Phil Mickelson 36.54

What makes Tiger's numbers so strong though is that he only plays in the toughest fields. Perry tends to play weaker fields, but his numbers are still impressive. Fantasy golf sure is fun!

This post was certainly the answer to the question no one asked, but I thought some might find these numbers interesting.
