I was finishing watching the first round of the Pebble Beach pro am. To my horror, at the end they showed George Lopez's herky jerky swing in slow motion (or was it real time? who knows at those swing speeds) and he was swinging a Titleist 905!

Come on, he could be swinging @#%# on a stick and heh'd still hit it as far as he does now with that herky jerky swing. These guys get all the breaks; cushy jobs, tons of money, and the chance to play with pros. Now they get pre-released equipment too??? Titleist needs to draw the line somewhere since there are thousands of eager golfers around the country dying to get thier hands on these drivers and they give one to George Lopez? The guy's not even that funny, how many "White people are funny because . . ." jokes can we take????

I'm done ranting now , but I'm quite dissapointed in Titleist.

FWIW, Lopez has cracked me up a few times. Less than many people can admit to, but a few times here and there.

For all we know, with all the Titleist gear the guy wears, he's "on staff." Y'know? I don't begrudge him what he's accomplished, and celebrity breeds endorsement.

Call it "Titleist ramping up for release." Remember when the Smothers Brothers did a commercial for Callaway, was it? Maybe a Lopez/Titleist ad isn't to far in the distance?

I'd like to try the 905, and probably will when my pro shop gets some in. But I'm happy with what I have now... and have new irons and a 503.H coming in!

You know, I wouldn't be so irritated if Lopez was good. I'm not a big Kenny G fan, but if he had a 905 I'd be okay with it because he's a great golfer and could probably benefit from one.

George Lopez has come a long way and bettered his life considerably, for that he should definatley be admired. However, i still think he's got a long way to go to better his golf swing!

I thought Lopez took up the game recently, so I was going to give him credit for having a decent swing.

Turns out he's been playing nearly 20 years.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
    • Day 151 1-11 flow work today. I've been doing all pause work, so Inwanted to get some rhythm going. Recorded.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
    • Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
