Well, that was moreso my point. I don't hit any absolutely lost shots at all anymore. And my driving game is ood, it's my short iron game that kills me. A lot of times i'll score higher on a par 3 than on a par 5 and that's no joke. But, I am slowly but surely working at it.

Then you're in a pretty good place. If you're driving well, and hitting your approach irons well (and let's be honest they're a lot easier to control than a driver) then the scores will come down.

I've got the opposite problem. I'm good with my irons, and my short game is improving in leaps and bounds. I just need to put myself in a good position off the tee more often. Last time I played I only hit a four fairways.

To be honest I have a G30 Driver that I cut down to 44.5 and I hit it about 220-225 and I'm 66 yrs old. BUT with that said, just for kicks I bought a club called a Long Tom, with 10 degrees loft and a 48 inch shaft. I Absolutely Crush It ...Dead Straight 8 out of 10 drives, the other two are normally slight draws...BUT there are going 235-240. So I've been thinking of taking my old RBZ driver and adding a 48 inch shaft JUST TO SEE.

    • Interesting discussion. Consider this; we spend 95% of our open eyed life perceiving everything in a front view. That's what we are/become good at. Our eyes/brain don't develop an accurate  sideways aiming system. Plus our perception 'bends' based on shape of the hole, slope, etc. Anyway, I pick a spot 5 feet in between the ball and target and set up my toes parallel to it. That's it. From 150 yards out Im off by 2 feet. Big whoop. You can try to compensate for it, but unless you are good at changing aim in 0.01 degree increments, chances are you will overcompensate.
