I am thinking about putting a speeder 757 in my driver to flatten the trajectory, gain control. I play dg s300 in my irons, but feel like the stiff flex shaft in my driver is just too weak for my swing (losing balls to the left). My clubhead speed tops at about 115, and I make a real strong move to the ball, producing a high ball flight. Would the speeder 757 stiff or x-stiff be better for me? Let me know what you think. Thanks

The speeder would probably be a nice fit for your type of swing, as they are a low torque shaft. Also they are a heavier shaft that would probably complement your swing. The X-Flex might be the best choice for your particular swing speed, however you might still be able to get by on the S-Flex.

Someone on here with more knowledge on these shafts should be able to give you better feedback than myself, and also probably correct me on my bad advice. ;).

Really sweet feeling shaft whether that be in S or X flex. At first (like the Diamana) it may actually feel like you're using a rubber band for a shaft (that's how it felt to me) but I think you'll find the accuracy to be quite good. The way the ball seems to flatten out and penetrate at the top of its apex is absolutely gorgeous and 'inspiring' when I compared it with my previous equipment (which tended to either go straight up or quick left).

Based on your swing speed (and Fujikura's fitting guide) you're an X but then again I'm not too sure since you may have a very odd tempo, early/late release, etc.... The only way to be sure (and the least expensive option in the long run) is to get fitted.

bhboren,

The speeder 757 is a shaft that is tip stiff, butt stiff with mid bend. It's a good shaft for smooth swingers with a long arc and smooth tempo who release their wrist cock midway through the swing. One reason why Ernie Els and Fred Couples have used it for so many years with so much success. If you're an aggressive swinger who has a hard transition in the downswing, the mid kick of the 757 might not fit you well. You're probably better off with a shaft with a butt soft section and a very stiff tip like the Accuflex Evolution or Graphite Designs PM 702. One word of caution, both shafts play very firm to flex, and at 115, you're right on the line between X and S. Personally, I'd opt for the S so I wouldn't have to work to load the shaft hard on every tee box. A tipped Proforce V2 may also fit your needs, but tipping must be done very carefully and depends on the bore of the head you're planning on playing.

What a great shaft... I had it in my 983E last year... with a 2 inch plug... my swing speed is just about the same as yours... and I got away with playing a draw with a stiff flex... I couldn't hit a cut to safe my life... but because I was turning the ball over I was getting a bit more distance

so think about it

I have the speeder 757 x-stiff tour shaft in my 8.5 launcher dst and hit bullets with it. My swing speed averages right at 125 though. I've played both shafts, and I think you would be better off with a regular stiff. I load up and create a lot of torque at the top of my swing, but its the way I've always swung my driver so I don't think its worth you swinging out of your comfort zone and bumping up to the extra stiff. Just my thoughts though.
