I'm a 13 handicapper who still plays a set of Wilson Ultra cavity back irons. I'm thinking of changing and would want to invest on the Titleist AP2s, especially since the new ones are coming out so the price will drop. I find myself hitting the ball too high with my cavity backs so I was hoping the AP2s give a more penetrating ball flight.
Would you suggest these irons to someone of my handicap?

You're 13?
I think they'll be OK for you.
Just a thought though, I noticed a lot of people wanting to "invest" in golf clubs, specially irons. What's the investment in buying golf clubs?? It's not like you can sell them for a better price than you got them like you can do with a house (not these days anyway) or a piece of land, or gold.
If you're looking for investment, keep away from golf. Golf is about nothing but wasting your money (and being happy you did). Ask everyone around here.

Upgrading to a "players" iron like the AP2 is a great investment. You may take a step back for the first month or so because your mishits, which you did not notice before, will become frustratingly obvious. However, if you commit to practicing, you will improve and your scores will improve. If you are looking to change your ball flight I would highly recommend getting fitted by someone knowledgeable who can recommend the shaft and flex which best fit you.

Getting new irons is without question an investment. Personally, if better and more expensive equipment can help me accomplish my goals as an athlete, than that is an investment. Conquering your goals and succedding is more tangible than money in my opinion.

I used the word "invest" instead of buy because since i'm a high school student i do consider spending 800 dollars to be an investment.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
