I've had my Taylormade Rac's for a while now and I usually get them pretty high in the air, which can be fine, but I feel like I lose distance sometimes versus lower ball flights. I am now looking for new irons, and I was fooling around with some Burners and I got a very sweet ballflight; somewhat "jet-like". Just sorta kept low and slowly rose high. I then tried hitting that shot with my Rac's and I couldn't do automatically like I could with the Burners.

So when I look for more iron sets, are there any others that have that similar "ball-flight" approach, aside from the Burners? Thank you.

I think you will find the r7's by taylormade give very similar performance to the Burners, and can be bought for 3 bills with a little haggling. The r7 irons were a very solid design, and to me there was no improvments made when the Burner irons were released. That being said, what were the shaft differences between the two irons if any? Flex and rifle shafts versus TM t-step shafts will give very different feel when hit side by side. Good luck, and remember the length of your irons are not near as important as the accuracy.....

My boss, who is something like a 4ish handicap, gets that rocket-like trajectory you speak of from the R7 TP's. He is deffinately a hard swinger (290 driver and 260 3 woods) but he still gets a drop and stop with his 3 iron even with that low initial launch. He has since replaced his stiff TTDG with x-stiff though.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
