So I decided that I'm going to give my brother my r7 Quad for his bday but need to get it re-shafted. It currently has the OEM R.A.S. stiff shaft which is too stiff for him. His score usually ranges from 97-104, would guess around a 90mph SS, and is about 5'7/8. When he hits his current driver well there is a slight fade to it and carries about 190-200 with a 10-20 yard roll.

The more common shot is a weak low push that goes about 180 yards (current driver is Cleveland Sport 410 OS offset 10* with regular shaft). I was thinking he needs a shaft with high torque and a low kick point to help him with his distance and get him some height on his drives not to mention prob have it cut down to 44"s. I figured the Aldila NVS would be a good start but what about from other manuf. such as Accuflex, UST, etc...

Putter: White Steel

nice gift for your brother...

deciding a shaft can be a pretty complex process because along with all the technical aspects that accompany different models within manufacturers there is an aspect of personal feel. I think the best thing to do would be to just give him the club and then have him go to a professional and fitted to the proper shaft on a launch monitor... reshafting without accurately reading your brothers swing conditions could possibly just leave you having to reshaft again...

thats my two cents...but if you are really set on him having a ready to go club I would look for a high torque, low weight shaft with a low flex point... its hard to tell without seeing the swing or knowing the numbers...
