Hi everyone. I'm starting to play golf again after many years. From a driving range visit,i found out i can still play my irons well and have started go get some lessons. Handicap i'd say would be in the region of 20.Maybe a bit more.
Aim to buy new clubs in the next few weeks. Was planning to get them custom fitted also.
As I am to get more lessons, should I wait longer to get new clubs as my swing may change due to the lessons?
If I were to get new clubs next week for example, get them custom fit to suit my CURRENT swing, could it be possible that my new clubs may not suit me in the long run as my swing changes(due to the lessons)?
I'm not sure what to do....can anyone advise?

Zak.

What you need now is just the most basic "fitting". Get the shaft length and flex about right for your height and swing speed.

Once you get better you can get a better fitting to suit your swing, which will have changed. Once your swing is more consistent (maybe around a 10 handicap), you will benefit from a more "in depth" club fitting. SubPar

    • Truer words have never been spoken, as I am seeing tonight 😅. I hope my ignorance did not come across as arrogant… Definitely true, however there was also a pro present, albeit not trained in GEARS specifically as would be necessary. I am certainly learning a lot (as I hoped I would). I am not here to challenge the accuracy or significance of any data, as I did find it interesting how it objectively showed my swing. What I am wondering is if an expert teacher trained in GEARS was shown a swing with and without GEARS, would the pro come to a different conclusion using GEARS versus "traditional methods," genuinely curious.

    • This^  @Huffy, Go check out https://www.youtube.com/@AthleticMotionGolf They do a great job deciphering reality versus perception. One that comes to mind with 2D is perceiving lag using video. Two players can have the exact same lag, but because of the positioning of their arms, one looks to have tremendously more lag than the other.  Video is great for a lot of stuff, you truly can't hide anything from GEARS. Like anything that gives to a TON of data, knowing what to look for and how to decipher it is key.
