so i'm playing some of the best golf of my life, a lot of it has to do with new found consistency with my driver (you never think it, but hitting just a few extra fw's can do wonders for your scoring). anyways, i feel like there is more to get out of my driver, but just looking to untap that potential....the problem i have now is that i'm getting little to no roll on my drives. i can carry 260ish easily, 275 if i reach back a bit more than i want to, but it stops almost in its tracks. I'm playing a 10.5 with regular shaft...how can i get more roll? should i go down on my loft to a 10 or 9.5 or should i go for a stiffer shaft or perhaps just one with a higher kick point? from my knowledge of physics, i would presume all of those would give me more roll, but from a real world stand point, what are your guys' opinions?

Up until recently I have been playing with a Ping G10 driver, 10.5 but fitted with a Grafalloy Prolaunch Red shaft (regular flex) which is designed to give a lower ball flight over the standard Ping TFC shaft.
My best friend has the same club but fitted with the regular Ping shaft.
He hits the ball further than me with every other club except the driver..I am usually a good 20 yards or so on from him because of the lower trajectory I am getting with the subsequent increase in roll. This is even more evident if we are driving into a headwind where the lower ball flight helps even more.
I have just taken delivery of the new G15 driver (mates think I was mad changing because I hit the G10 so well!) and made sure I got the same shaft fitted as I personally get on with it so well. Can't wait to get out and try it at the week-end.
I suppose I "could" get similar results if I went down to a standard shafted 9 driver but find the 10.5 gives me a little more confidence at address.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
