Has anyone here ever made a Stimp meter?

I've found several resources online, but am looking for the best, most accurate - results oriented process, materials used etc...

Why would someone need a stimp meter? Just out of curiosity.

I was thinking the same thing, but would be pretty bada$$ to have!

Cant wait to see the guy on the practice green getting the speeds for the greens that day!

I want to know what my carpets' (upstairs and downstairs) speeds are.

Also, I'd occasionally like to meter my muni's greens. They don't post the speeds - only the country clubs here actually post the speeds. The muni greens can run anywhere from ridiculously slow to surprisingly fast, but are rarely consistent. I'd like to be able to quantify my grumbling about how there's too much grass on the greens most days...

But the local muni's greens probably vary from hole to hole too....

You cant be busting out the meter every hole...

Though that would be freaking hilarious and awesome to witness!

    • Assuming nothing actually happened, good for them. The video (from 1:48) may be the best they got of the situation and it doesn't correlate to the charges, unless Gillis suggested it happened before he got this far.

    • Day 47: 30 balls this evening. Started with 7-iron and hit 5 balls, full swing, moderate speed, focusing on still head. I think I have been overdoing a hip feel from my priority piece, so I simply stopped trying to feel that thing. Contact was good, 2/5 balls were a touch fat. Next did some short game work. Really focusing on good contact with short game shots. I don't have much time to practice short game at an actual practice facility, but I figure if I can make good contact, that will lead to some improvement. Did 10 balls with more of a chipping motion, but more of a 80% chip / 20% pitch shot. Then 10 balls of full pitch shots. Finally finished with 5 more balls with 7-iron, same as the first 5. Might do some indoor putting later, not sure.
    • Day 11 - Played 18 simulated holes. Working on the same stuff.
