We have a club team at my school (first year actually). Tryouts are this weekend, but I'm too far from home to get my clubs. We can rent clubs, but I'm not sure I like that idea. I play with longer clubs fit for me and my swing. I also know my distances pretty well with my clubs when used with my preferred ball (ProV1). The putter would be another issue entirely. So, I think I'm just going to wait until spring since that's when the actual season starts. Fall is just "practice". That way, I'll have my clubs. And I can practice during winter break (about a month). I took a lesson right before I came to college and I haven't been able to practice the new swing changes yet, so I think waiting is a good idea.

Opinions?

i think waiting until the spring would be a good idea. First impressions mean alot; esp. when you are not only looking at representing yourself but the school as well.

Most college teams are Europeans with anti-handicaps. I was talking to one guy the other day and he was saying that his visa had expired but he can stay if he continues playing professional golf. Not a bad gig, I said. He said he had just finished a round and shot 67. Flip the 6 upside down and you get my score, i told him.

If you get on the team though, I would imagine that would be a great way to improve your game they are ALWAYS practicing when I'm at the club.
