Try this underrated golf ball

I have played many rounds with various balls, namely, Pro V1, Pro V1X, Taylor Made Red and Black, Nike One Black and Platinum and Callaway's Tour i and Tour ix.
I haven't found any significant difference in distance although the harder balls do fly straighter (Pro V1X, Nike One Black etc)

Anyway, I stumbled up Titleist's NXT Tour and had a great round with it and have continued to use the ball interspersed with using other brands. What I find noticeably different is the feel off the putter face which is considerably different from all the other balls. It feels very, very soft which make it so much easier to dial in distance on the greens. I don't find a significant differences between the other balls but the NXT Tour feels great. Try it out.

I love the NXT Tour as well. It produces plenty of spin and distance and is perfect off the putting face. Have you found you chew them up easily? I find bite marks in mine after the round - still usable, but the urethane cover just tears off.

its something called fusablend...it doesn't say what that means, but its supposed to be soft like urethane especially around the greens. i wonder what the difference is between the fusablend polymer on the nxt tour and the ionomer covers on the nxt extreme and ionomer on the nxt extreme is...

oh and the title of this post is misleading...nxt tours are not underrated...they are one of the go to balls for decent weekend golfers who don't like spending 50 bucks a dozen on balls...underrated would be something like srixon z-stars

No; they don't have urethane covers. That tends to be a "Tour level" ball thing (Bridgestone E5+ excepted).

I would respectfully disagree. The TM Burner TP feels a lot more like a rock than the NXT Tour, although the cover is a bit more resilient as you stated. I don't feel that it has anywhere close to the soft feel that the NXT does. I played the NXT Tour for many years and recently got a set of the X-22 Tour irons. Those clubs tear the NXT's to shred, so now I've been trying to find another ball with similar feel without having to throw the ball away after a round because of all the scuff marks. I bought a dozen of the TM Burner TP's and they don't even compare.

My local sports authority carries Callaway HX tour X-outs for 18 bucks. They arern't marked X-out, and I cant find any blemishes to speak of. I usually get a round out of one and its still good enough for 9. I bought about 10 boxes of them after trying them. I played HX hots before that, and they are very similar, but the HX tours are much more resilient. Thats my underrated 20 dollar ball until something better comes along...

I agree the Burner TP (similar to old Maxfli Fires) plays pretty good... it does have a harder feel, but not rock hard, and performance and greenside check seem pretty close.

I actually have 2 dozen Maxfli C3 to try out soon... they were $14 a dozen at Dick's (on clearance) and they are 3-piece w/ urethane cover. If I like them I'm going to go back and buy several boxes before they are gone.

Eh?? Each to their own I guess. I, like yourself, have played the NXT Tour a lot and quite like it but I don't find the Burner TP remotely "like a rock". Sure you're not referring to the straight TM Burner rather than the Burner TP?

Big_M: I think I read/heard somewhere that the Maxfli Tour Fire balls were basically re-branded by TM as the Burner TP with a slightly better cover. Could be BS though.

I find that all the expensive balls tear up pretty quickly regardless of make so I'm always ready to use a couple of balls per round.
The NXT Tour just seems to have a completely different feel off the putter than all the other balls I've tried (not just the expensive ones).

It's just funny that most golfers I meet along the way insist on using Pro V's and wouldn't even consider such a 'budget' ball. Glad to hear I'm not alone!

I like the NXTs. and yea it seems to get some bite marks when I use one after a round.

Another good ball is the Maxfli BlackMax. It comes in a distance and a control model. I buy the control model, and I think they play nicer that NXT's. They sell them at Dick's 2 for $25. Maxfli also has other balls in the $15-30 range that play very nice.

I'm not sure either but I was playing a practice round this summer with a Tour Fire and found a "one hit wonder" Burner TP. I played them side-by-side for 4-5 holes and I couldn't tell them apart by feel or performance.

I'd also like to mention the Pinnacle FX longs. They play ridiculously long and straight, and other long/straight balls aren't even on the same playing field as far as feel goes. Also about as durable as a tank... I have a ball that my friends have named "the ball" because I must have used it on par 5's for about 20 rounds straight now.
