New clubs vs. lessons

Well I thought I would get yal's thoughts on this. I currently have a set of game improvement clubs and my game is at a point where I could really consider stepping up to a blade type club (I have my eye on the CCI forged which isn't quite a full blade, which should match my 8 handicap and help me improve)

I am really looking for more feedback, because on my clubs even if you hit it off center there is pretty much no feel.

Or should I just hold out some more, spend the money on lessons and continue that way trying to become a scratch golfer?

Just buy a single used blade mid-ranged iron club from ebay and try it out, like a 6-iron or 5-iron. If you're not hitting well with it then take a lesson with it to see what the problem may be. With your handicap you'll probably hit it well, after adjusting to it.

I bought a blade just to try it out, and found out after trying it that I still need some work on my swing, so sticking with my GI irons for now.

I think youd be fine with a set of player's CBs or blades. If youre an 8 handicap, your game is pretty decent; and your ballstriking should be good.

The CCi's are ridiculously nice. I wouldn't hesitate on them its really doubtful that you'll be sorry, especially given your handicap.

yeah, if stewart thought they were good enough to keep them (the cci's) and not bump up to the new line of clubs, then they must be pretty good.

If you are getting new clubs you definitely want to get fitted for them. And because of this, I'd say get lessons first. Depending on how much of a swing change you end up making after your lessons you might be on a completely different swing plane which could change the lie of the club you need. I would get the lessons first, get your swing down to where you want it to be (for the most part) then get fitted for clubs. When you get your new clubs down the road they will be made to fit your current swing, not your old swing. Just my 2 cents.
