How many amanteur tournaments do you plan in each year?
How far would you travel to play in a golf tournament?
If you do travel, do you play the course in the month prior to the tournament?

from where i live in NJ i'll never have more than a 120 mile commute

Yes i do. Most courses will offer a free practice round.

A combination of all three. Ill pay a little more for qauilty and the performance i want, though.

I use Titliest equipment through the entire bag.

Does the kind of ball you play matter to you? Or do you play whatever ball you find?
During the winter ill generally play anything i find out of the course. During the golf season i prefer the consistancy of using the same ball all of the time.

How often do you purchase new equipment? Balls, clubs, drivers, putters?
I dont change clubs very often. I bought most of the clubs i have this year but ill be using them for the next several years. Ill buy one dozen balls a month and usually one glove.

I played in about 8 this year, I plan on playing at least 10, but would like to be closer to 15 in 2010.

How far would you travel to play in a golf tournament?
Depends on the tournament. If I qualified in a USGA event, I'd go almost anywhere. For a local amateur tourney, I'd say 6-8 hours driving max.

I tested a bunch this year and my favorite was the Callaway Tour iX.

It definitely matters. In the winter I'll play whatever's in the bag, but I usually stick to the same type of ball.

I had my last set of irons for 7 years before I replaced them. I'll update my driver maybe every 3 years. Putters are my vice, I always seem to buy too many. I pick up 2-3 per year. Balls I buy every few weeks, depending on how much (and how well!) I'm playing.

I play a soft Srixon during the winter months, but only ProV1's during tournament play. [Always the same 2 balls]

2+ dozen balls per month; several years between puchases of irons or drivers; the utility clubs haven't changed since they went into the bag; wedges are replaced every 12 or so months; putter... very rarely.

Does the kind of ball you play matter to you? Or do you play whatever ball you find? Yes. I don't use anything but Titleist NXT Tour.
How often do you purchase new equipment? Balls, clubs, drivers, putters?
Balls-I don't unless I have a gift card. I live right beside a golf course with alot of wooded areas so I look in the woods' every night. I keep the brand new NXT Tour's I find and sell all the rest.
Drivers-Every two years.
Hybrids-Every two years.
Irons-Every two years.
Wedges-Every two years.
Putters-Whenever I get so frustrated I snap it in half.
Bag-Whenever the everyday wear-and-tear takes a toll on it. Went through two bags this year. Shopping for a third that will last at least two years this offseason.
